THEY are a cut above!

Hairdressing management students showcased their skills and knowledge during an inspiring event at Bury College.

Bury College University Centre students studying hairdressing management HND impressed family, friends, tutors and peers by planning, managing and hosting a PR event. The showcase was an opportunity to share different hairstyles they had designed as part of their course.

The first year students had created a collection of different hairstyles which they could use within the hair industry including in a salon, for a hair show, feature in a magazine or on the catwalk.

Each student decided on their own personal theme which ranged from an Alice in Wonderland theme, 1940’s theme, star sign theme and West End to Broadway theme.

The students then created these looks through hair, make-up and clothes to complete the final look and were photographed during a professional photo shoot in Manchester.

Elizabeth Molloy, who had attended the event to support daughter Sophie, said: “I loved the showcase, I think it has been fabulous!

“It is great to see what Sophie has been doing on her course and has been an opportunity to meet her peers and tutors.

“I am looking forward to the next showcase event.”

Lynn Duerden, lecturer in hairdressing at Bury College said she was delighted with the students’ achievements.

She said: “The Hairdressing HE team are extremely proud of our student’s accomplishments in planning and preparing for this event.

“The event was an integral part of their course and in its development the students were able to extend their creative hairdressing skills, their team working and organisational skills.

“It was wonderful for the students to able to celebrate their achievements with their family and friends and also for our prospective HE students to be able to gain an insight into the course before they begin their studies with us in September.”
