PERFORMERS will roll back the years at Ramsbottom Music Festival’s Silver Jubilee Concert on Saturday October 7.

The 25th festival was held in March this year and, to celebrate this milestone, a concert is being held which will feature a selection of prize winners from over the years.

The festival has offered an opportunity for musicians of all ages and ability to show their musical prowess over the years, and has provided a platform to demonstrate their skills in front of family and friends, and also receive positive feedback from skilled adjudicators.

Ramsbottom Music Festival was founded in 1993 by music teacher, Peter Fielding, and a group of enthusiastic locals which included Bury’s current Mayor, Cllr Dorothy Gunther.

Cllr Gunther said: “The festival is very important and it is wonderful that we are celebrating 25 years.

“A quarter of a century ago I remember sitting in the civic hall discussing starting a music festival, with people who were complete strangers at the time, so to say it is still going strong is marvellous.”

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Bury Hospice. Cllr Gunther added: “I am also delighted that the event will raise money for the hospice, it couldn’t go to a better cause.”

Many of the performers at past festivals have gone on to forge successful careers as professional musicians or are currently studying at prestigious music schools.

The programme will also include a few of current competitors who are considered to be 'rising stars'.

The programme for the Jubilee Concert will consist of a mix of soloists and groups playing various instruments: vocalists, piano, strings, woodwind, brass, guitar, electronic keyboard, choirs, brass band and jazz band.

The event takes place at Bolton Road Methodist Church in Bury with tickets £10 adults, £6 children under 16; £25 family ticket for two adults and two children.

Tickets are available from Mary on 07817 876372 or ramsmusicfest@gmail.com or the Bury Hospice fundraising team 0161 797 1748. Refreshments included.
