BURY Hospice nurses swapped their uniforms for luxury wedding gowns as they helped to launch the opening of a new wedding shop.

The shop, in Blackburn Street in Radcliffe, features some designer dresses including creations from Alfred Angelo, Mori Lee, Ronald Joyce and Justin Alexander.

Many are new, having been donated by Littlewoods, while others have been donated with prices starting at £50 up to £700.

Staff at Bury Hospice took time out of their busy schedule to model some of the dresses at the hospice’s award-winning Japanese garden.

“It was good fun,” said Bury Hospice’s end of life facilitator Patsy Gibson.

“When I got married, it was in the Caribbean with a kaftan so I had never had the chance to wear a wedding dress so I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially trying on all the different styles.”

Sam Duncan, trading and volunteer services manager at Bury Hospice, said: “We are really excited about our wedding shop.

“We have a large number of sizes and styles for sale and we have decorated our Radcliffe shop with posters, vintage furniture and chandeliers to make it a special occasion for any bride wanting to try on our dresses.

“We even have a beautiful selection of bridesmaid dresses and occasion wear.

“We are proud of the shop and there are some lovely dresses at bargain prices.”
