TWO Bury entrepreneurs say they have created the ultimate camping bed.

Adam Yaffe, aged 32, and Mikey Donn, aged 28, who both grew up in and live Whitefield, launched their new Chedbag on the Kickstarter website.

They describe it as ‘the closest thing that you’re going to get to your bed at home’.

The pair were childhood family friends, before going into business together, and have more than 20 years experience working for retailers including Disney and Nickelodeon.

Adam, who went to Bury Grammar School, said: “We grew up about eight doors down the road from each other. We were always pals but then things got serious about nine years ago.”

Speaking about the inspiration for the design, Adam said: “I saw somebody walking down the street with a trolley bag and I just thought why couldn’t you have a bed that comes out of a bag? We see it as the evolution of camping, camp beds and sleeping on the go.”

The Chedbag, a compound of the words chair, bed and bag, can be used as both a bed and a chair, and has a built-in trolley handle and back-straps for easy transportation. The product is ideal for a range of purposes including camping, festivals and sleep-overs. Mikey said: “We’re really excited about the product, and our vision to create the simplest, quickest and most comfortable solution for sleeping on the move, We’ve been working with some big names for a long time, but thought Chedbag would be the ideal product to launch on Kickstarter — where we can showcase all its benefits and features.” The Kickstarter campaign has reached a third of its target amount, and the pair have pledged to give away one Chedbag for every 20 sold to good causes — including homelessness and disaster relief.

Adam said: “We know Manchester has a big homelessness problem and if we can give something back, that can go a long way.”
