A NEW world-famous obstacle course is coming to Heaton Park as Tough Mudder returns for 2018.

Tough Mudder will bring its new 5k event to the Prestwich park for hundreds of runners to test their strength and stamina.

The event promises to include a minimum of 10 teamwork-filled obstacles from the classic Tough Mudder course, minus the mud.

Neck-deep water and muddy bogs will be left behind as the 5k route comes to Heaton Park on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

Participants are encouraged to round up the race at Mudder Village and bar where craft beers, street food, and live music will be provided throughout the afternoon.

Will Dean, CEO and co-founder of Tough Mudder said: "With Tough Mudder 5K we can now welcome even more Mudders into the tribe – from people who have never tried a Tough Mudder event before and want a flavour of our infamous camaraderie to well-seasoned Mudders who would like to try new obstacles and bring friends in tow.

"We're excited to bring epic new obstacles to the heart of the city and look forward to welcoming you to the new events."

Tickets have now gone on sale, at £29 per person, and include a 5k headband, performance finisher t-shirt, event photographs and a finisher pint.

Spectators can cheer on family and friends for free by simply turning up on the day.

Organisers are also on the hunt for willing volunteers who are given discounts at future events among other perks.

Camaraderie is the key for this team event, which has so far raised more than £2.5million for the Help for Heroes charity.

It is expected the race with start at 9am, with participants finishing around 2pm.

Runners are asked to arrive 45 minutes before the start time, which will be communicated via email ahead of the event.

The 5k course is also being launched at East London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Holyrood Park in Edinburgh.
