A HOUSE in Whitefield was targeted while residents were on holiday.
Offenders smashed through a door panel at the rear of the property in Lily Hill Street.
But an alarm prevented the offender from entering beyond the kitchen during the break-in on Tuesday, January 9.
Police inspector with Greater Manchester Police, Michael Brennan, said Whitefield has had a small spike in burglaries over the past five days.
Insp Brennan said: "The occupants were on holidays at the time.
"It was 2am. Offenders kicked through the rear UPVC door panel.
"But the alarm put them off going further into the house."
Each of the Whitefield burglaries over the past week occurred overnight, leaving very few lines of enquiry.
In most cases, offenders have approached the front of houses and proceeded to target vehicles if they could not gain entry.
