Dog owner fined by court

A WOMAN has been fined £120 for being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control.
Manchester magistrates heard how Danielle McCreery’s brindle and white coloured Staffordshire Terrier called Bella was out of control in Heathfield Road, Whitefield, on October 3 last year.
In addition to the fine, McCreery, aged 26, of Heathfield Road, was ordered to pay £100 compensation plus £115 in costs and charges.
The court also ordered that the dog must be insured and kept under proper control in public.

Unpaid work for knifeman

A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after he was caught carrying a kitchen knife with an eight inch blade in Lowton Street, Bury, on January 11.
At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Jermaine Rhoden, aged 20, of Meade Hill Road, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.
The court ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and he must also participate in a total of 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
He was also told he has to pay £85 towards prosecution costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned

A DRINK driver has been banned from holding a licence for 12 months.
At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Zabihollah Salehi, aged 27, of Collen Crescent, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence whilst driving a Vauxhall Astra on Jubilee Way, Bury on January 6.
In addition to the driving ban Salehi was fined £305 and was ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs plus a £30 surcharge.

Careless driver fined

A MOTORIST has been fined £65 for driving without care and attention on the M60 at Trafford.
At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Shahbaz Qammer, aged 40, of Shepherd Street, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on July 22 last year. He was also ordered to pay a total of £115 in costs and charges and had five points added to his licence.

Assault man convicted

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 150 hours unpaid work after he was convicted of assaulting a woman.
Kark Whyatt, aged 26, of Normandy Crescent, Radcliffe, denied committing the offence on July 9 last year but was found guilty after a trial at Wigan Magistrates’ Court.
The court also ordered him to pay his victim £100 compensation and pay a total of £710 in costs and charges.
A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting the woman or going to Hunter Drive, Radcliffe.

Man cleared of identity failure

A MAN has been cleared of failing to give police the identity of a Volvo lorry driver alleged to have committed an offence.
At Manchester Magistrates’ Court on October 10 last year David Stimpson, aged 42, of Lever Street, Radcliffe, was convicted of failing to name the driver.
But the court agreed to reopen the case and his conviction and sentence of a £660 fine have now been set aside.

Drink driver loses licence

A DRINK driver has been banned from holding a licence for 12 months.
At Manchester Magistrates' Court Colin Woodward, aged 54, of St Michaels Gardens, Whitefield, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on Great Ducie Street, Manchester on January 9 while driving a Citroen Xsara.
He was also was fined £366 and ordered to pay £116 in costs and charges.

Charity cash thief sentenced

A THIEF who stole charity cash has been sentenced to do 80 hours unpaid work by magistrates.
At Manchester Magistrates' Court Sarah Costello, aged 29, of Appleby Gardens, Manchester Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to stealing £185 belonging to the British Heart Foundation.
In addition to the unpaid work, Costello was ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities, pay £485 in compensation and an £85 victim surcharge.

Assault woman spared jail

A WOMAN has been spared jail after being found guilty of assaulting four people and using threatening behaviour.
Dannai Hayward, aged 31, of Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe, had denied committing the offences, on April 17 last year, against three males and a female on but was convicted following a trial at Manchester Magistrates' Court.
She was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work.
Hayward was also told she must pay a total of £300 in compensation plus £300 towards prosecution costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Teenager sentenced

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a teenager to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted assaulting a woman, as well as damaging a door and mobile phone.
Kyle Walsh, aged 18, of Mossfield Close, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on December 10. He was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Bury Road, Radcliffe.
