ED MILIBAND visited Bury to launch Labour’s local election campaign.

The former Labour leader launched the campaign joining Bury North MP James Frith, councillors and party activists to kick off the final seven weeks of the election campaign.

Mr Miliband said: “It was a pleasure to visit Bury North to launch the local election campaign and James’ campaign to stop school cuts.

"With £2.8 billion already cut from school budgets in England since 2015, it is vitally important that we elect more Labour councillors in May in Bury and elsewhere to work with Labour MPs like James to stop further cuts to schools which are damaging the education of our children.”

At the launch in Guardian Angels Parish Centre, Mr Frith said: “In 2015, Ed Miliband warned of the impact a Tory government would have on our children and sadly we’re now seeing that warning realised.

"£6.6 million to be cut from local schools by 2020, ageing school buildings in desperate need of investment and a teacher recruitment and retention crisis.”
