TWO housemates have appeared in court over an alleged terrorist knife plot after a stash of weapons were found at their Whitefield home.

Hisham Mohammad is accused of planning to attack a military or police target in the UK.

He allegedly stashed axes, knives, bear-claws and combat equipment at his home in Victoria Avenue.

The 24-year-old had also carried out research into military locations and police equipment and done weapons training, it is said.

His housemate Faisal Ahmad, aged 23, allegedly knew about the attack plan but failed to report it to the authorities.

Mohammad appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism.

Ahmad is charged with having information which he knew or believed might be of material assistance in preventing the commission by another person of an act of terrorism and failing to notify the authorities.

The pair wore grey tracksuits in the dock.

They were both remanded in custody and ordered to appear at the Old Bailey on June 29.

Greater Manchester Police said they launched an investigation on June 4 after "reports that suspicious items had been found at an address on Victoria Avenue".

Officers found extremist material supporting Isis and violent jihad on a number of electronic devices at the house.
