THE sound of music filled the Elizabethan Suite as some 300 young people performed as part of a three-day showcase.

The annual Bury Music Centre Festival returned to the Town Hall between June 17-19.

A varied programme saw 16 groups of children from across the borough perform everything from Bruno Mars to Bartok.

Children aged six to 19 took to the stage as part of the event, organised by Bury Music Service Ltd, supported by Arts Council England.

Gemma Price, Head of Service, said: "We are thrilled by the high standards of performance our students displayed this week.

"Congratulations to all who took part."

The event gives young people who rehearse weekly at the Music Centre in Whitefield the chance to perform.

It is one of several events organised by Bury Music Service, including Manchester's Band on the Wall last month, and upcoming Bury Youth Orchestra concert at The Royal Northern College of Music on Sunday, July 8.
