SUPPORTERS of Bury Hospice have paid tribute to long-serving volunteer Alan Knight by displaying a plaque in his memory at a new shop in Prestwich.
Alan (81), of Wells Avenue, was a member of Prestwich and District Lions Club for more than 25 years before his death on May 18 last year.
He was, according to his fellow members, a driving force behind the organisation, which raises cash for charities and helps community groups.

The plaque was originally placed at Bury Hospice, in Dumers Lane, in the summer but was moved to the hospice's shop in the Longfield Centre when it opened in December.
Alan was a great supporter of the hospice.
He helped find outlets for the hospice's red roses and Christmas novelties and also worked with his wife Joan collecting for the hospice's weekly lottery.
The hospice's fundraising manager Mervyn Reeves said he was pleased Alan would be associated with the shop and emphasised just how much he was missed.
"Alan was a tireless worker for the hospice, as he was for so many other local causes. I remember him being so involved in the Prestwich Carnival," said Mervyn.
He added: "He was always so very kind and considerate and we all miss him a great deal.
"But the work of the Prestwich Lions will go on as he would wish and the hospice is continually grateful for their support.
"They are a grand bunch of people who put others well before themselves."
