Do you think it is right that the landlord of the Duke William pub in Ainsworth has been ordered to pull down a smoking shelter which had been built without planning permission?

Medical staff put their best foot forward for Bury Hospice
Staff from Minden Medical Centre put on their running shoes for the 200-mile challenge
Staff from Minden Medical Centre put on their running shoes for the 200-mile challenge

MEDICAL staff have been showing their athletic side to raise money for Bury Hospice.

Teams from three local health centres are walking, running, jogging and swimming on their way to complete the 200-mile challenge.

Staff from Minden Medical Centre, in Bury, have been using pedometers to count mileage as they walk home from work, while teams from Woodbank Surgery and Tottington Health Centre have also been notching up the miles.

Bury Hospice's chief executive, Elizabeth Houghton, and other members of staff, are jogging and walking around Close Park in Radcliffe during lunch breaks to cover their mileage. Staff from Bury Council and the Grundy Day Care Centre, in Wellington Road, are also tackling the challenge.

Lesley Marsh, community fundraiser, said: "There is no rush to complete the 200 miles, although there is a trophy for the first to finish and send in their sponsor money. There are also prizes for the most money raised."

Anyone wishing to take part in the 200 mile challenge can contact Bury Hospice on (0161) 797 1748.
