A LANDLORD is re-opening his doors after arsonists destroyed his Bury pub, leaving him homeless.
John Holroyd, owner of the Derby Arms, has worked tirelessly to get the pub ready for its grand opening at 5pm tomorrow.
He and wife Barbara have had to sleep in tents following the suspected petrol bomb attack on April 30 which destroyed the pub and caused extensive smoke damage to the flat above where they lived.
As a fitting celebration the pub has become the first in the country to have the new Daniel Thwaites brewery sign on its doors. “The pub has had a full face-lift, and has been painted brightly inside and out,” Mr Holroyd said.
