Miss England gains plenty of ‘atten-shun’ on promotional visit

MISS England was all present and correct when she visited the Fusilier Museum to promote the forthcoming Miss Bury contest.

For Katrina Hodge, aged 22, is also a soldier and was awarded a commendation for bravery after saving a colleague’s life while serving in Iraq in 2005.

Having been granted six months’ leave to fulfil her role as Miss England, the Lance Corporal will represent her country in the next Miss World final to be held in South Africa on December 12.

During her engagement in Bury, she visited the town’s Army Careers Information Office which is housed within the Fusilier Museum in Moss Street.

Miss Hodge said: “Anyone who wants to enter the contest should just go for it. I thought I was going to be laughed at when I entered my local competition.”

The Miss Bury contest will take place at the town’s Village Hotel on Sunday, May 23. Entries close on Friday, March 12. Miss Bury is a direct entry heat into the Miss England competition. For more information: visit www.missbury.co.uk
