Investment brings more nurses

A RADCLIFFE woman is among 50 new neonatal nurses caring for children across Greater Manchester Salford University graduate Faye Bushell, aged 22, is based at the Royal Oldham Hospital. She is one of 50 extra nurses than in 2007 recruited using the Making it Better investment, which focuses on neonatal care.

They will all benefit from a six-month induction programme aimed at meeting higher standards.

Faye said: “I came to the Royal Oldham on a three-month placement while studying for my degree in children’s nursing.

“The challenge and pleasure of working with babies and their parents made neonatal nursing what I really wanted to do.

“The way the team works together and the sense of anticipation around the Making it Better changes over the next two years makes it an exciting place to work.” Qualified nurses for band five and six posts are still being recruited across Greater Manchester.
