School’s woodland mosaic

AN intricate mosaic created by pupils and a professional artist will become a focal point at Holly Mount RC primary school in Greenmount.

The colourful design mirrors the landscape within the vicinity of the Holly Mount Lane school itself, taking in Holcombe Hill and the surrounding area.

Many of the stones used in the delicate artwork were taken from the grounds of Holly Mount while others were supplied by the artist.

Stones of different colours were used to enhance the overall effect. Pupils and the artist completed the mosaic in just two weeks. It now takes pride of place within the tranquil and picturesque setting of the children’s wood in the grounds of the school.
