Shoulder broken in bag theft


A WOMAN suffered a fractured shoulder when she was a victim of a bag snatch in Bury.

The 47-year-old was injured when she was dragged to the ground by the thief.

She had been walking along Olivant Street with a friend when three men barged past them.

One of them grabbed the woman’s handbag and attempted to wrestle it from her grasp. During the struggle, she fell and was hauled along the ground. She eventually let go and the trio ran off towards Manchester Road Park.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to her broken shoulder and cuts and bruises to her arm.

Police have now issued descriptions of the trio following the incident, which happened at about 10.30pm on Friday, June 25.

One is described as Asian, 6ft, of skinny build, and was wearing a light grey hooded tracksuit top with the hood pulled up tightly around his face. The other two were also wearing hooded tops.

Police Constable Gavin Brien, of Bury volume crime team, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a woman who was making her way home after a night out with friends.

“It has left her feeling very shaken and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with any information to contact us.”
