Sky’s the limit for brave Alison

A CHARITY fundraiser is turning from bare-devil to daredevil to help Bury Cancer Support Centre.

For Alison Lilley, who lives in Bury, will tackle a 14,000ft skydive tomorrow to raise money for the charity.

The challenge comes after she bared all in a 2010 calendar as Miss November, posing Calendar Girls-style and raising thousands of pounds.

Alison, aged 38, has supported the centre since her best friend went there after being diagnosed with cancer three years ago.

She is now on the road to recovery and the skydive is a celebration of her health.

Alison said: “I’ve never done this before and some people think I’m mad, but throwing myself out of a plane is nothing compared to what my best friend had to go through with cancer.

“I want to do something for the centre after seeing the help she received and watching her thrive and become stronger.

“Everyone has heard of the large cancer charities but small local ones need help too.”

The skydive will take place at Cockerham, near Lancaster, and Alison will be falling at 120mph for about a minute down to 5,500 feet.

She will then spend six minutes floating with a parachute down to the ground.

Alison, who works as an import administrator at J Rosenthal and Son Ltd, in Radcliffe, said: “I am looking forward to the skydive, but I’m getting nervous about it now.

“The skydive is definitely much scarier than stripping off for the calendar.”

Alison is collecting sponsors and hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for the centre by doing the skydive.
