GOVERNORS from Springside Primary School in Bury have taken another step forward in their bid to build a new foundation unit.
The school, in Springside Road, got a boost in February when Ofsted inspectors removed its “notice to improve” status and branded it satisfactory.
To build on that success, governors applied to Bury Council for permission to demolish a temporary classroom and build a temporary access road.
The school would then get a new foundation unit with a reception class, nursery class and offices, with a new playground outside.
Last week Bury Council’s planning committee voted in favour of the proposal, allowing work to begin whenever funding is in place. One neighbour claimed the school already created parking congestion.
