Traffic wardens ' turn blind eye' at mosque

WORSHIPPERS at Bury mosques were given special treatment by parking wardens - on official orders.

Staff were told to "turn a blind eye" at parking offences by Councillor Bob Bibby, leader of Bury Council.

The revelation has annoyed local Labour councillor John Byrne, who accused the Tories of trying to "curry favour" with one section of the community.

Coun Byrne complained that areas near the Yarwood Street and Parker Street mosques were being left alone, while neither the police nor East ward councillors including him knew about it.

"I have no problem in varying parking orders if it's right, but not if it's done unilaterally," he told last week's council meeting. "I want to be consulted, and the whole council should know about it."

Coun Bibby said that he visited a mosque and had promised to look at parking problems in the area. "It's wrong to say that any alterations have happened," he said. "At the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid, I was asked if there was anything we could do in regard to parking restrictions. I asked our parking people, and we are discussing schemes.

"We thought it was appropriate to turn a blind eye at that particular time. This was suggested by our parking regulators, and I am quite proud that we did it."

After the meeting, Coun Byrne said: "What are we going to turn a blind eye to next? not paying your rent for six months? Where do you stop? It's political.

"Im quite amenable to looking at it, but it has to be done for the whole borough and for all religions, not just on one person's say-so."

Nothing suprises me any more the whole govenment down from the Prime Minister to the local council is treading on egg shells just to keep the muslims happy!
If any one complains they are classed as racist!
Do you think for one minute you would get any preferential treatment such as this in their countrys?
What with council signs in their language,translators sat in the back during driving tests,no nativity plays because they may be offended the list is endless.

How many cars have been booked for parking outside the parish church? The traffic wardens certainly dont turn a blind eye outside our churches. Its no wonder there is such bad feeling in the country if each town gives preferential treatment to certain sections of their communities.

The issues surrounding Christmas Tree lights, Nativities, St. Georges' flags (the list is endless), is fuelled, not by minority ethnic groups, but by the PC clowns at Bury Town Hall. Until practises like this are stopped, we will never be able to work towards integration.

Over the weekend an 86 year old lady in Ramsbottom recived a £30 ticket for parking with her wheel over the white line in a parking bay next to the market.
Bury council should hang their head in shame its a disgrace that there is one rule for them and and other for a poor old lady who has lived in Ramsbottom all her life.
I doubt if any one from the council will even read this comment but if by chance you do you are a monster out of control who prays on the elderly but must not upset our 'wrapped in cotton wool' muslim population so they will vote for you in the next election.
Perhaps if she had been called MOHAMMED the warden would not have booked her!!
As for ADs comment above on integration?
In the real world it will never happen no matter what the politcans or pc brigade tell you.

talk about preferential treatment ,,,my daughter parked outside her work at 2 mins to 6 and got a ticket (restr=ctions ended a 6) we appealed and it was declined ..and yet they can cause obsturctions and danger just to prey ....its one rule for one and one rle for them
