THE father of former Bury footballer David Flitcroft has died after being found hanged in a hospital room.
Popular businessman John Flitcroft, aged 59, who lived in Bromley Cross, Bolton, was being treated in the mental health unit of Royal Bolton Hospital when he was found in his room.
His family said he was fit, healthy and happy, but suffered from an anxiety disorder, for which he was taking the drug, Ativan.

David, now assistant manager at Rochdale, and brother of ex-Blackburn star Garry, said: "Our dad inspired us and pushed us, as much as any dad could."
"As soon as people met dad, within 30 seconds there was laughter. He wouldn't greet you with a handshake, he'd greet you with a smile."
An inquest has been opened and adjourned. Police have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.An inquiry is to be carried out by the mental health trust.
