ONE of Bury's major employers has reinforced its commitment to financially support the town's premier annual community event.
For the third successive year, accountants and business advisers DTE are the main sponsors of the popular Bury Carnival.
And this year, the Hollins company has increased its contribution to gala organisers, the Bury Lions club, which has received a £2,000 cheque.

Bury Carnival, to be staged on Saturday, June 14, will revert back to its twin format of a floats parade and a full field gala programme for the first time in 12 years.
The floats procession will take place in the town centre and later thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the Wellington Road athletics track for the gala fete.
DTE's latest financial contribution and backing has delighted Bury Lions carnival chairman, Mr Frank Mirabitur. He said: "We are very grateful to the company for their continuing support. The £2,000 is an excellent contribution and the club is delighted that they are our main sponsors for the third consecutive year."
Company partner, Mr John Turner, commented: "DTE has been supporting Bury Carnival through the Lions for three years. As one of Bury's major employers, we decided to commit ourselves to the carnival because we believe it's a tremendous focus for the town's sense of community and identity.
"It brings people from diverse backgrounds together in an atmosphere of celebration, innovation and creativity - just take a look at some of the eye-catching floats put together by local businesses and groups and the fun activities in the gala.
"Equally importantly, the carnival raises thousands of pounds for a range of deserving local charities that would otherwise go without much-needed funds."
The Lions have sourced other corporate funding, including £800 from the Royal Bank of Scotland, to help offset the overall costs of staging Bury Carnival.
Meanwhile, the club is busily preparing its programme of activities for June 14. The number of stalls and floats is steadily rising and the momentum should gather pace within the next few weeks.
Mr Mirabitur continued: "At the moment, we have a dozen stalls, eight floats as well as seven bands taking part on the day. Additionally, we will have the John Collins Fair."
The carnival chairman added: "Although we'll be back to the old format after 12 years, it will be a bit smaller than it used to be. But we're delighted that the carnival allows us to give something back to the people of Bury."
Anyone who wishes to set up a stall or to enter a float on the day should ring Lion Malcolm Evans on 0845 8339608.
