Local children tap in to benefits boom

NEARLY 2,500 children in Bury are now benefiting from child maintenance payments.

The news came as the Child Support Agency (CSA) announced it collected or arranged a record £1billion nationally in a 12-month period.

The total amount collected or arranged for North West children was more than £121.867 million in the same period between April 2007 and this March.

In Bury, the CSA says that over that period, collections and arrangements amounted to £3,317,600 which benefited a total of 2,450 children.
