HE’S certainly home on the “range.”

That’s businessman Scott Hall who when it comes to running a successful fish and chip shop has it all wrapped up.

He’s just taken over premises in Victoria Square, Whitefield, which for the past 10 years have served as a “chippy” for the local community.

Scott has invested up to £15,000 in a refurbishment of the business which is aptly titled Fish & Chips. The shop closed for around nine days to allow the work to be carried out before reopening.

He said: “This actual shop has been here for around a decade and when the lease was up I decided to take it over. Thanks to the refurbishment, it’s completely different inside now with new signs, floor, ceiling and a redecoration. Virtually everything is new about the shop except for the range.”

Scott is harnessing his experience and expertise within the trade to run his own traditional fish and chips shop. “I’ve been doing this since the age of 13 and I’m 29 now and I’ve worked all over north Manchester. I just felt it was time to set up on my own.” Fish & Chips also boasts a seating area which can cater for up to 20 customers who want to eat in. Looking to the future, Scott added: “Hopefully, I’ll either have more shops or look at providing more of a sit-in restaurant.” He prides himself in offering customers a true flavour of “traditional” English fish and chips. “All our ingredients are fresh daily. I go out to look for the best quality potatoes and fish. We also have pies which are delivered daily, as well as home-made pies. And everything in the shop is fresh and fried to order.”

Helping out in the shop is Scott’s father, James, as well as a female employee. “It’s so far, so good since I opened the fish and chips shop and feedback from our customers has been good.”
