BABY Moves is “on the move” as it prepares to usher in a New Year which is shaping up to be just as successful as 2013.

The company, established in 2006, works to promote physical and mental development in babies and toddlers and also designs and writes for major nursery supply catalogues.

Baby Moves is scheduled to open the doors of an innovative and flagship neuro-gym in Tottington in January.

And the past 12 months will be a year to remember for the business, founded by Olwyn Maurer and Susan Sutherland.

Last month, at Manchester’s National Football Museum, they created a new record for babies involved in a physical workout with 72 youngsters taking part.

Earlier, the company received the prestigious Practical Pre-School 2013 Bronze Award for their “outstanding” range of visual perception nursery equipment at the Toy Industries awards in Birmingham.

Baby Moves’ professional design team consists of qualified early years consultants and movement specialists.

They have been winners for the last six consecutive years for their exciting nursery educational designs, resources and early years training and their pioneering award-winning Baby Moves programme, which is accessed widely across the UK.

Linking their designs to the latest neurological research, Baby Moves supports children’s physical developmental journey from birth.

Olwyn Maurer, training and education co-ordinator, said: “Our aims with our revolutionary design are to get the nation’s babies to be more active.

“Our pioneering company supports parents to be more active with their babies. We envisage that many more homes and nurseries will use the Baby Moves Gym range and begin to access our award-winning Baby Moves programme.

“By encouraging babies to move more it is proven that they will not only develop skills such as bonding, attachment, communication and language, but also the movement helps to reduce childhood obesity.

“We are increasing parents’ and early years practitioners’ under-standing of this concept.

“The latest figures show that of children in the four to five age group, 9.5 per cent are obese and 13.1 per cent are overweight. This rises to 19.2 per cent obese and 14.7 per cent overweight in the 10 to 11 age group.”

Baby Moves has transferred from its previous base in Market Street, Bury, to its new headquarters in Springvale Street, Tottington, in readiness for the launch of its neuro-gym next month. It will give babies a workout, supporting the healthy development of their brains and bodies.

Baby Moves also offers training to people who are interested in the field of early years as a means of setting up their own Baby Moves workshops and becoming fully qualified Baby Moves practitioners.

The business has also created its own course, endorsed by CACHE (Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education), which has already been accessed by hundreds of early years professionals. It will be available online from April.
