BEST in Bury Foods Ltd is living up to its name by launching a thriving online ordering and delivery service to complement its two popular market stalls in the town.

Bosses had earlier sought customer feedback to determine potential demand for such a move, and were overwhelmed when its Facebook page was inundated with messages of support for the new venture.

The company is supplying quality meat and poultry products to a growing portfolio of customers, not only in the North West but beyond.

“And phase two is ready to be launched with the website offering much more choice, from fresh fish, fruit and salads to cheese, pork pies and sauces. Best in Bury operates stalls at the town’s Fish and Meat market, selling a range of meat, poultry and fish.

However, according to managing director Steven Hilton, some loyal customers began to express concerns about car parking facilities nearby. They told us that they couldn’t find a space to park or, if they could, it was expensive.

“We’ve had customers visit us in Bury from as far as London and Edinburgh and they said how good it would be for us to deliver.”

As a consequence, the company decided to examine the prospect of an online and ordering and delivery service and the proposal received substantial backing on social media which convinced Mr Hilton that the time was right to go ahead with the idea.

"We are now giving customers exactly what they want,” he stressed. “We’re combining old fashion values and qualities with tomorrow’s technology and improving ways of doing things.”

Best in Bury have kitted out a purpose-built unit in the town’s Canon Street which acts as the hub for its online service. And a fleet of 10 vans is utilised to transport its goods to eager customers in the region and further afield.

Mr Hilton continued: “We’ve employed people who know about our products and who can speak to customers and also give them advice on such things as recipes and storage. And customers who go online also have the option to come to the unit to pick up their orders.”

Apart from delivering in the North West, Best in Bury now has agents in Sheffield and Doncaster as its territory expands.

The company, which was originally established on Bury Market in 1991, recently welcomed a visit to its Canon Street premises from Hollyoaks actress Jazmine Franks who was picking up a Best Slimmers Pack.
