COMPANY closures in Bury more than doubled in the first quarter of the year, according to a new report.
Duport.co.uk said its business confidence report for the area revealed that between January and March, 147 companies were dissolved, representing a 56 per cent rise on the same period last year.
The report also showed a seven per cent reduction in company formations over the period, leading to an overall drop in company growth.
Managing director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis commented: “Although the figures we are seeing for Bury may at first appear alarming, it is worth remembering that 2013 was a record year for company formations, so it follows that there will be a greater number of closures during 2014.”
The Duport business confidence report for Bury contains a variety of data, from company formation numbers to business naming trends.
