A FAMILY business is laying the foundations for generations to come.

The Park Royal Group is moving into the landscaping industry, with the opening of a new business.

The group has for over 30 years worked in the construction, highways and rail industries and is building on that by launching Park Royal Stone — supplying decorative garden aggregates and slate

chippings, soils, turf, sands to railway sleepers, winter salt and grit to more topical sandbags — straight to home owners, gardens and landscapers.

Martin Ridgway, depot manager of the new business of Borden Way, Pilsworth, said: "We love our gardens in the UK and more of us are realising a garden upgrade can not only

give us an extension to our living space but add value to our homes.

"A dedicated business like this is more convenient for people to come along, see and feel our products and discuss their aspirations with us — especially if they're looking for something special."

Managing Directo Nicola Robinson said "It's a challenge bringing any new business to market, especially when we are still recovering from the recession but we believe we are building on our strengths staying within the aggregates industry but exploring new channels and serving new markets; working directly with the public instead of companies that construct highways and buildings."

Three new jobs have been created by the new business and the company hopes that more will be created as the business grows.

Mr Ridgway said: "We appreciate launching a garden based business in the winter months may not make sense to some but with winter products that include rock salt, winter grit and sandbags, our product range adjusts seasonally.

"It's unlikely that many people will want play sand or garden turf right now, but you'd be surprised how many people start planning summer projects in

winter.

"There's no reason your garden paths can't enhance and compliment your and planting and add further texture and interest of your outside living space."
