‘Awards are getting bigger and better’
HERE is what the winners and sponsors have said about the awards:
"This is the second successive year we have sponsored one of the awards categories. The awards are high profile and we are delighted to provide our support and sponsorship."
Mark Worsley, office managing partner of CLB Coopers which sponsored the Technology, Innovation and Design category.
"The evening showed what a vibrant and thriving commercial and industrial base we have in the town.
"It was indicative of the energy and drive of our businesses and businesspeople, who are creating the basis for future prosperity on which we all depend. I was particularly pleased to see so many new faces both among the guests and the winners."
Councillor John Walsh, Bolton Council Conservative leader.
"We are based in Bolton and a lot of our work is generated within the town. That's why I believe it's important to support such an event like this which recognises the efforts of local companies. We are delighted to be associated with something like this."
Jonathan Shorrock, partner with KBL Solicitors.
"We are the biggest private employers in Bury.
"We felt we wanted to put something back into the community and that's the major reason why we decided to become involved in the awards."
Jason Stanton, head of customer support, O2 in Bury.
"I have been thoroughly impressed by the Bolton Business Awards event and delighted that I was able to attend. In fact, the whole thing has virtually left me speechless."
Councillor Farook Chaudhry, Mayor of Bury.
"We feel it's important to support Bury businesses and others and that is why, for the second successive year, we decided to become a sponsor in this awards event."
Shefali Talukdar, managing partner of Bury-based Clough & Willis.
"We support and encourage businesses and, therefore, we take great pride in being a sponsor of this business awards event. It rewards and recognises excellence and we are happy to be involved on such an occasion."
David Jones, director of commercial banking, Royal Bank of Scotland which sponsored the Business of the Year section.
"Once again, a lot of credit is due to The Bolton News team for pulling together what was a fantastic evening. There was an excellent turnout which shows the enthusiasm of everyone to celebrate business success in Bolton and Bury."
Paul Norris, head of PNC Business Development Consultants, Mawdsley Street, Bolton.
"This is the second year in a row we have been one of the sponsors. As a former winner of the Bolton and Bury Business Awards several years ago, I can see things from all different perspectives. This year, we have sponsored a different category."
Mark Bedward, managing director of Global Telecoms and Technology.
"What was certainly impressive was the turnout. To get close on 600 people is comparable to events I have attended in Manchester. When you realise that this is just about businesses in Bolton and Bury, the achievement is even more notable. It shows that the level of interest among local business is phenomenal, and it demonstrates that the commitment to recognising what they do is growing each year."
Kevin Hughes, managing partner, Yorkshire Bank FSC, Bolton.
"My congratulations to The Bolton News and Bury Times for arranging such a spectacular event which celebrates and quite rightfully acknowledges the valuable contribution our local businesses are making to the economy of Bolton and Bury. It was amazing to witness so many diverse businesses under one roof."
Bipin Patel, chairman and editor of Apna News.
"We won the Start-Up Business of the Year at the 2006 awards and, as a result, our business got bigger and better. That prompted us to become a sponsor of the same award this year. We are very pleased to be associated with this event."
Serkan Senol, founder of Goss Marble.
"As a long-established family business, we are very pleased to be able to provide our support to other family firms and companies in the town."
Frank Warburton, director of Warburtons.
"With such high quality, professional support across the spectrum, business owners have less and less need to go outside Bolton and Bury for the high quality services they need."
Nick Hulme, Independent corporate finance expert with NHCF.
