LAST Wednesday, 45 members, wives and friends attended the Radcliffe Probus Club summer lunch at Stand Golf Club.
After the lunch, secretary Joe Sowden presented president Terry Nortley with The Probus Tie' and his engraved name plate to be added to the chain of office in recognition of his services in the past year.
The president thanked the secretary for the presentation and went on to thank various members for their contribution over the year.
They were our brew lads' Brian Gilbert, Len Taylor and Jack Aldersley who prepare the tea and biscuits at every meeting; Alan Davenport who has introduced quite a few new members to the club. Jack Heathcote and last year's president who took over at the last minute when one of our speakers was unable to attend.
Our treasurer, Jack Rothwell, who was unable to attend the dinner due to illness, had done an excellent job along with the social secretary Ken Jubb who organised a first class trip to the Co-operative museum in Rochdale last November.
A very special thank-you was extended to Probus secretary Joe Sowden and his wife Ruth for their contribution.
The president stated they were worth their weight in gold before introducing the new Rodger Heywood and wished him every success for the 2008-9 season.
