BURY'S squad at the Bolton Team Jamboree on Saturday came away happy after winning their category (team with three players out of four graded below 95).

Members Roger Howley, Brian Forrest, Lee Baron and Roger Nuttall all scored 2/4 in their individual games and a bye in the last round was enough to win a chess set and board for the club.

The Bury club championship has reached the final round, with Mick Norris and Roy Wild contesting the trophy and in the subsidiary competition Steven Press and Jeremy Peach are chasing the prize.

At the AGM last week it was decided that the club would continue to enter three teams in the Manchester League, subject to a review by the committee of the number of players available for the third team.
