Celebrations were held to mark 100 years since the death of Mary Bealey, who was responsible for building Close Methodist Church.

Poppy Day collections raised £395 5s 3d for the Earl Haig Fund. Radcliffe Road Safety Committee described 1957 as "one of the blackest years for fatalities" after five people died on the roads. More than 500 people attended a recruitment drive by the Radcliffe Platoon of the Lancashire Fusiliers. Work was on schedule to modernise Radcliffe Central Railway Station. Residents in Radcliffe New Road complained about the smell coming from a local works. Radcliffe St John Ambulance Brigade and Nursing Division voted to ask the council to buy the ambulance drill hall.
