Improved recycling centre re-opens


A NEW look household waste recycling centre has opened at Cemetery Road in Radcliffe after undergoing a programme of improvements.

The facility, which was shut temporarily from early September, has been fully modernised and expanded.

Among the improvements are: Easy access to the recycling containers which are situated on one level specifically designated for members of the public A comprehensive recycling service with increased waste capacity Better traffic management to eliminate queuing off-site Separate access for operational vehicles and private cars to increase the safety of all site users, and Reduced waiting times.

Peter Heginbotham, chairman of Viridor Laing (Greater Manchester) Ltd, the company responsible for the development, said: “This new facility with its modern and forward thinking layout will make it easier for residents to segregate and recycle more of their waste in a simple to use and safe environment.”

Radcliffe’s Cllr Sam Hurst, a representative on the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority, commented: “This new facility will boost recycling and recovery in order to meet Government recycling targets.”
