VOTE Do you think it is right that the landlord of the Duke William pub in Ainsworth has been ordered to pull down a smoking shelter which had been built without planning permission?

Run for fun - in memory of Joe Geeling
 |
| Joe Geeling |
ATHLETES of all ages, shapes and sizes are being invited to take to the street in memory of a young Bury schoolboy who was murdered two years ago.
Joe Geeling, an 11-year-old pupil at St Gabriel's RC High, was found in a shallow grave in Whitehead Park on March 1, 2006, having suffered multiple stab wounds.
Following Joe's death, his parents Tom and Gwen Geeling, of Devon Street, set up a trust fund - the Joe Geeling Trust - which has helped raise thousands of pounds for Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (Booth Hall) and the Bury branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Now, Lavender Hotels, which owns the Bolholt Country Park Hotel in Walshaw, has organised a sponsored run in Joe's memory. The Joe Geeling 5 Mile Run will take place on Sunday, June 8 from the Stables Fitness and Leisure Club, based at the Bolholt in Walshaw Road.
There will be prizes for the first male and female runners and for the first male and female juniors. All competitors will receive a finishing medal.
There will be a barbecue, a bouncy castle, a raffle and other attractions on the day.
To enter: fill in the coupon below; or contact Karis or Vicky on (0161) 762 4000 or 763 9999; or call into the Stables Fitness and Leisure Club.
Entry forms and the registration fee should be sent to: The Stables Fitness and Leisure Club, Walshaw Road, Bury BL8 1PU.
