Arson probe after six flee Rochdale house blaze

Six people had to be rescued from a burning house in Rochdale this morning.

Police were called to an address on Arundel Avenue at about 3.30am following a report of a fire.

Officers went to the scene where six people were rescued from the master bedroom by the fire service.

The occupants, aged 40, 34, 27, 16, 13, and 11 were all taken to Rochdale Infirmary suffering from smoke inhalation. They have since been discharged.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and a joint investigation is now underway.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4644 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
