Kevan Whitehead, borough commander, Bury, says: "The fire service in Bury has a strong relationship with the Bury Times and recognise their significant assistance in helping us to make Bury a safer place to live. It truly is a community focused paper and deals with the matters important to people who live, work or travel through Bury. Together we help to inform and educate the community about fire safety and in the process protect them.
"We achieve this by working extremely closely in an ethical and trusting business relationship with senior reporter, Terry Morgan, who has invested significant time and effort to better understand the fire and rescue service, its aims, vision and frustrations.
"We may never completely eradicate accidental fires . . . but that doesn't mean, with the assistance of the Bury Times, we shouldn't strive for such an aspirational target.
