KIND-hearted pupils at a Prestwich school have raised more than £500 for the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

Park View Primary staged a week-long series of fundraising events including "adopt a rock," bracelet making, apple bobbing and a bouncy hopper race.

Year six pupils came up with the fundraising idea and all the activities. Youngsters had the chance to choose two of the activities and were given slots during the week to fulfil these and paid £1 for the privilege.

One of the most popular was the "adopt a rock" event.

Year six teacher Cathryn Gaskell explained: "One of our year three teachers brought the rocks all the way from the Isle of Skye. The children then decorated them with faces and each had a name and a passport with information on where they were born, their nationality and family members. These could then be bought by the pupils."

The Park View Road school was delighted with the amount of money raised.
