KIND-HEARTED fundraisers pedalled through the night in aid of a poorly youngster.

Six-year-old Lilly Reynolds, from Prestwich, has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy ahead of a 10-week trip to America, which starts on Monday.

To help her mother Natasha Walsh fund the trip, her friend Maria Jones raised more than £500 by organising and taking part in a 12-hour sponsored cycle ride on exercise bikes on Friday night.

Joined by friends Stuart Ogden and Danny Potter, Maria cycled for 12 continuous hours at the Village Hotel in Bury, collecting donations from hotel guests as they passed.

Afterwards, Maria said: "It was pretty tiring but a really fun experience for the three of us.

"People were keen to know why we're doing it, so we told them about Lilly, and they were very generous."

While in Florida, Lilly will undergo specialist treatment and Natasha is also hoping to take her daughter to Disney World for her birthday on August 8.

Her classmates at Our Lady of Grace RC Primary School in Prestwich have also been raising money.

Natasha, aged 29, who works as a pharmacy assistant at Tesco in Prestwich, said: "It has been a horrible time for all the family. Everyone has been really supportive. I never knew that people could be so nice."
