SUPERMARKET bosses have shown their support for a care home with a cash donation.

Aldi, which has branches in Bury New Road, Prestwich, and in Higher Lane, Whitefield, has handed over £250 to help Heathlands Village in Prestwich look after elderly people and run a community centre for their families.

Representatives from the social care charity, The Fed, which provides support to Jewish people in the Greater Manchester community, were presented with the cheque from Aldi's area manager Wayne Simpson at Heathlands Village last Thursday.

The company has also pledged to give staff a shopping voucher for a forthcoming fundraising raffle for Heathlands.

Mr Simpson said: "The Fed is an integral part of the local community, and does so much for the people of Prestwich.

"We are pleased to be able to support the charity in this way and we hope our donation will help it continue to provide services to local people."

* Aldi currently employs 26,000 people in the UK and bosses plan to create an additional 35,000 jobs as it continues to expand over the next two years.
