A MAN who was jailed for a brutal assault at a Heaton Park music festival could this week lose his houses.

Leon Wong kicked Jordan Holmes in the face as he lay defenceless on the ground at Parklife Festival in June, 2014. Mr Holmes suffered serious facial injuries.

Wong, aged 32, of Toxteth, Liverpool, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court in December, 2014, after he admitted two counts of assault.

Wong was released from prison last Friday and is serving the remainder of his sentence out on licence. However, the National Crime Agency has now turned its attention to his property. It has put in motion a court case in an attempt to recover two houses – in Widnes and Toxteth – which have a combined value of £360,000.

The agency said the case relates to allegations of mortgage fraud.

Under the terms of the Proceeds of Crime Act, authorities can seek possession of assets unless the owners can prove they own or fund them using money earned legally.

A hearing will take place at the High Court in London and is set to conclude today.

During the Heaton Park incident, Wong was talking to a woman when two men attacked him. He mistakenly thought that Mr Holmes was one of those responsible and so he attacked him.

When sentencing Wong, Judge Robert Atherton compared his assault as like a footballer running up to take a penalty kick “and the ball is the head.” He added that Mr Holmes was lucky to be alive.
