THE Flying Scotsman will be back in Bury this weekend during the second weekend preview event before the famous locomotive hits the mainline.
Sir Nigel Gresley’s iconic A3 Pacific will be in steam along the East Lancashire Railway on Saturday and Sunday, January 16 and 17.
The “Scotsman in Steam Preview” event will be one of the last opportunities to see the engine in its Wartime Black livery before it’s repainted in British Railways’ Brunswick Green livery.
Engineers from Riley & Son, based in Baron Street, Bury, have been painstakingly restoring the locomotive in a £4.2 million restoration project with help from the National Railway Museum in York.
