A GROUP of intrepid volunteers learned some team-building skills — by climbing a mountain.
Nine special constables, who are voluntary police officers serving in Bury, went on a day trip to Wales on Sunday to climb Mount Snowdon.
Despite tricky weather conditions, the 'specials' conquered the 1,308m mountain in around three hours, learning a lot in the process.
One of those who took part was Moshe Rothstein, aged 31, who drives a truck for a living and volunteered with Bury Police five years ago.
Moshe said: "It was an intense experience, but a brilliant day out.
"The specials all meet up every three or four weeks for a drink, but I felt that we needed to do some team building to get to know each other better.
"We all come from different backgrounds: I am a Jewish trucker and there is another guy works at Royal Mail, and then a mum of four.
"The great thing was that everyone helped everyone else up that mountain and we all pitched in together.
"I definitely think that it will help us now when we are out on shift together and we're looking at organising more team-building outings on a regular basis."
There are more than 650 special constables in Greater Manchester.
As well as joining full-time police officers out on patrol, specials also help out on major police operations.
