A MAN whose car smashed into a barrier just off the M60 was rushed to hospital after suffering a medical episode at the wheel.
The Whitefield resident was driving a black Vauxhall Astra when it crashed into a barrier at the roundabout by Junction 17 of the M60 for Prestwich and Whitefield.
Police, ambulance and fire services were called to the scene at about 8.35pm last night, before the 53-year-old was taken to North Manchester General Hospital.
PC Richard Garland, of Bury South Station, said: “The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel before losing control of his car and colliding with a barrier.
“Due to the tailbacks the accident caused, we also received reports of a HGV colliding with a car.”
