A terminal at Manchester Airport was evacuated after an unattended bag was found this evening.
Police were called shortly before 6.30pm to reports of an unattended bag at Terminal 2 of Manchester Airport.
Part of the building was cordoned off "as a precaution, while an investigation takes place," a spokesman for the airport said.

A cordon was put in place and the terminal building was evacuated while officers established the nature of the bag.

The bag was deemed to be non-suspicious and the terminal is due to be reopened.

Superintendent Mark Kenny said: “Due to the circumstances this evening, it was appropriate to evacuate the terminal to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
“We contained the situation and dealt with the suspicious bag as quickly as possible so there was minimal disruption to the airport and the public.
“I would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation.”
The evacuation led to delays for scores of passengers.
The airport was running as normal on Friday morning.
