THIS is what the Park 66 retail park could look like if a £20 million development gets the green light.

Project bosses have published images of what they have in mind — and want neighbours to have their say on their proposal to create 300 jobs before they submit a planning application to Bury Council.

The Bury Times has previously reported that Sladen Estates intends to carry out a major redevelopment of the patch of land in Pilsworth which has suffered a massive downturn in recent years, largely due to the success of The Rock in Bury town centre.

There will be four shops selling food, homeware and sporting goods and two drive-through restaurants, as well a warehouse.

No brands have been confirmed, though it is understood one of them will be JD Sports, which will open a sporting goods shop with a gym attached.

This week, Sladen Estates launched a website — pilsworthregeneration.co.uk — to show off how they want to breathe new life into the site and give people a chance to comment using an online form.

Sladen Estates development manager Nigel Jones said: "The site has been derelict for a considerable time and its potential has been ignored.

"Through the creation of the proposed mixed-use scheme, the redevelopment project will offer a high-quality development that will bring much-needed jobs and facilities to the area and will improve this gateway site at the entrance to Pilsworth.

"We are keen to progress the scheme as soon as possible and I would encourage anyone with an interest in the proposals to take a look at our plans and provide their feedback.

"Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities are excited about bringing the biggest national brand retailers to Pilsworth.

"Not only will the scheme convert a derelict site into an attractive leisure, retail and employment location, the redevelopment will also create over 300 jobs in the local economy, and I am sure is something the local economy and residents would encourage."

The webside says: "The redevelopment includes four retail units offering greater choice for convenience food shopping, homeware and sports, along with two national food and beverage drive-thru outlets and a state of the art gym.

"The scheme will see the regeneration of a longstanding vacant site that has attracted vandalism and anti-social behaviour over a number of years."

A Sladen Estates spokesman added: "Since the closure of Vue Cinema and the loss of subsequent restaurant chains and bowling alley, the area has been affected by vandalism, anti-social behaviour and travellers.

"The redevelopment of the site would deter such attention and bring the site back to life.

"Leaflets will shortly be distributed to residents in the local area to advise them of how they can get involved in the consultation.

"We would ask that all feedback be submitted by September 23.

"Anyone wanting more information on the proposals can call the development team on the community information line on 0161 799 0293 during business hours or email pilsworthregeneration@lexcomm.co.uk"
