WORK is under way to build a treetop adventure course at Heaton Park.

Treetop Trek Ltd’s new development will see the construction of a seven-acre treetop adventure park, suitable for all ages and abilities.

The new Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets attractions are due to open in June and will feature giant treetop trampolines, an aerial treetop adventure course, zip wire canopy tour and the longest continuous belay ropes course in the UK.

Council bosses hope to help enhance the attractions on offer as part of the on-going, long-term improvements across the park.

It is expected that 40 new jobs will be created, with local recruitment for the varied roles under way.

Mike Turner, managing director of Treetop Trek Ltd, said: “It’s a fantastic feeling to finally be under way with our work on the Heaton Park site and it means we’re now a big step closer to bringing Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets to Manchester.”

Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, said: “This is the start of a fantastic project here at Heaton Park.

“Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets are fun and healthy activities.

“I believe that once the development has been completed, the local area will feel the benefits of its presence both socially and economically.”

Cllr Luthfur Rahman, Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: “This is the start of a fantastic project here at Heaton Park.

“The attraction will expand one of the country’s favourite destinations up into the venue’s trees themselves.

“Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets are fun and healthy activities.

“I believe that once the development has been completed, the attraction will be a huge hit with the local community and visitors alike.”
