Last weekend’s glorious sunshine won’t be repeated this Easter Bank Holiday weekend – according to the Met Office.
Temperatures are expected to hover around 10 degrees C for much of the weekend, with overcast skies and chances of rain and showers for the North West.
Forecasters say that, in rural areas, the conditions could be mistaken as wintry as rain and gale-force winds could be a possibility.
The Met Office said: “Easter Day and Easter Monday are still a little uncertain, but at the moment it looks as if northern parts of the UK could be rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain for a time.”
While people wanting to make the most of their free time outside may want to wrap up warm, the weather may be ideal for those taking part in various sports this weekend.
The mornings should be bright so early-risers may be able to enjoy the brief moments of sunshine before the cloud moves in.
Forecaster Nicola Maxey said: "If you are in a patch of sunshine it is going to feel quite pleasant but when it clouds over time, and with the cold breezes further north, it is going to feel chilly.
"So, a contrast to last weekend, but April is a month when you see these extremes when it goes up and down."
