THEATRE lovers can a enjoy a Shakespeare classic in the park this summer.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed at Heaton Park and Hall from Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, August 6.

And tickets are now on sale to the open-air promenade production, where audiences will be charmed by live music as the cast sing, dance and act their way around the park before heading into Heaton Hall to watch the play’s grand finale.

The play is being presented by theatre company, Feelgood, which has won awards for its outdoor shows.

Feelgood last presented Macbeth in 2009 and now after gap of eight years and several West End show.s the celebrated Manchester Company is back to present Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy.

The cast, which is led by director and producer Caroline Clegg, is comprised of industry stars such as the legendary Toby Hadoke playing the popular comic role of Bottom.

Mr Hadoke has been a stalwart of the Manchester comedy circuit for more 20 years, winning awards for his contributions to the scene.

He said: “I grew up in Ludlow where we had professional open air Shakespeare every year and as a schoolboy I carried spears and dreamed of being a proper actor.

“Then I came to Manchester as a student and in my first week I was cast as Bottom.

“Since then the city has become my home, I have become a proper actor, and now I finally get to play the part as a professional.

“So the setting, this play, and especially this part all seems pre-ordained and I can’t wait to finally get my Bottom out into the open air for people to see it.”

Dan McDwyer, who will play Snout, recently appeared on stage with Ariana Grande during the One Love Manchester concert. He conducted the Parrswood High School Choir, who performed his arrangement of her song ‘My Everything’ for the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack.
