FRENCH travellers have been moved on after they came to Bury for a holiday.
Around 30 caravans parked up in Wellington Road, on land next to Grundy Day Care Centre, on Tuesday last week, having crossed the Channel.
Bury Council was granted a court order so it could legally remove the travellers.
The notice was served on Friday and by Monday the travellers had left the site.

Cllr Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for communities, said the travellers were very pleasant and cooperative when visited by police and council staff.
“They have now moved on and there was minimal disruption all round,” he added. “And they seem to have been made welcome judging by social media.”
A small amount of rubbish was removed by the council and the site has been secured.
