FANS of free festival Festwich are being warned not to be duped by ticket resale sites.

Organiser Jools Taylor said a woman was nearly tricked into paying almost £420 for tickets to the free festival.

Festwich, now in its 7th year, is a free festival with people only paying a £3.50 admin fee for their tickets.

Mr Taylor, said: "If you don't go to a lot of gigs I can see how people are being duped into it.

"Sites like Viagogo, will pay to be at the top of Google and if they come up first.

"We want to keep the spirit of Festwich alive because it's a free festival and they shouldn't go to these sites they can get tickets for £3.50 rather than £50 per ticket.

"We set it up for the feel good factor."

On Viagogo's website on Wednesday, tickets could be purchased for £32.

Mr Taylor said tickets have been given to a handful of local stores to make sure local people can attend.

Tickets can be picked up at Prestwich Hardware, Bury New Road; Endless Music, Bury Old Road; Arcade Club, Cork Street, Bury and Rock and Goth, Silver Street, Bury.

Festwich is being held on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29 in St Mary's Park, off Bury New Road, Prestwich.

Tickets can be found at festwich.com online but Sunday has sold out on the website. Viagogo was approached for a comment.
